This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Minigig LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you access or use the ResumeIO website at https://resumeio.com and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a username you select.
  • Resume content: The text, employment history, skills, education, and other information you enter or upload when creating resumes through the Service.
  • Uploaded documents: Files you upload for AI parsing, such as PDF resumes.
  • Payment information: When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are collected and processed by our third-party payment processor. We receive limited billing information (such as the last four digits of your card, expiration date, and billing address) but do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications: Information you provide when contacting us through forms, email, or other channels, including the content of your messages.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information:

  • Device and browser information: Device type, operating system, browser type and version, and screen resolution.
  • Log data: IP address, access times, pages viewed, referring URL, and actions taken on the Service.
  • Usage data: Features used, interactions with the Service, and frequency of use.
  • Approximate location: General geographic location derived from your IP address (city/region level only; we do not collect precise GPS coordinates).

  • Providing the Service: Creating and managing your account, generating and storing resumes, processing AI-assisted features, and publishing public resume pages at your direction.
  • Processing payments: Facilitating subscription charges, managing billing, and communicating about your subscription status.
  • Improving the Service: Analyzing usage patterns, diagnosing technical issues, and developing new features.
  • Communications: Sending transactional messages (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts) and, where you have opted in, marketing or promotional communications.
  • Security and fraud prevention: Detecting, investigating, and preventing fraudulent transactions, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Legal compliance: Complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
  • Enforcing our Terms: Enforcing our Terms of Service and other policies.

4. AI Processing

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate resume content, rewrite sections, and parse uploaded documents. When you use AI features:

  • Your input (resume text, job details, uploaded documents) is sent to third-party AI service providers for processing.
  • We do not use your personal resume content to train AI models. Your data is processed only to fulfill your specific request.
  • AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate. You are solely responsible for reviewing and editing all AI-generated content before use.
  • Our AI providers process your data pursuant to their own data processing agreements with us, which prohibit them from using your data for their own training purposes.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We engage third-party companies to perform services on our behalf, including payment processing, email delivery, AI processing, cloud hosting, and analytics. These providers have access only to the information needed to perform their specific functions and are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Public resumes: If you choose to publish a resume to a public URL, the content of that resume is accessible to anyone with the link and may be indexed by search engines. You control this setting and can unpublish at any time.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via email or prominent notice on the Service.
  • With your consent: We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies on the Service:

6.1 Essential Cookies

Required for the Service to function. These handle authentication, session management, and security. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while using the Service.

  • Account data: We retain your account information and resume content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
  • After account deletion: When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, tax, or compliance purposes (e.g., transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years).
  • Backups: Residual copies of your data may persist in backup systems for a limited period and will be deleted in the ordinary course of backup rotation.
  • Aggregated data: We may retain aggregated, anonymized data that cannot be used to identify you indefinitely for analytics and research purposes.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and portability: You can access and download your resume data at any time through the Service.
  • Correction: You can update your account information and resume content at any time through your account settings.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account and associated data through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@resumeio.com.
  • Marketing opt-out: You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.
  • Cookie preferences: You can manage cookie settings through your browser as described in Section 6.3.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services. The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.

By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other jurisdictions as described in this Policy.

13. Additional Disclosures for California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to know: You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share your information.
  • Right to delete: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.

  • Right to opt out of sale/sharing: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

Categories of personal information collected in the preceding 12 months: Identifiers (name, email, IP address, username); commercial information (subscription and payment records); internet or electronic network activity (usage data, log data); professional or employment-related information (resume content provided by you); and inferences drawn from the foregoing.

14. Additional Disclosures for EEA, UK, and Swiss Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following additional provisions apply:

14.1 Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the Service to you (account management, resume generation, payment processing).
  • Legitimate interests: Processing for our legitimate business interests, including security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and analytics, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent: Where you have given explicit consent, such as for marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws.

14.2 Your GDPR Rights

In addition to the rights in Section 9, you have the right to:

  • Restrict processing of your personal data;
  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
  • Receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (data portability);

14.3 International Transfers

15. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. There is no uniform standard for responding to DNT signals. At this time, the Service does not respond to DNT signals.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
